This student struggled with this project, and I think she didn’t understand the idea of symmetry. she wanted to rip it up several times, but I encouraged her to keep going; to work with what she had. I am not sure the result was wholly successful given the criteria, BUT the experience of persevering was important, and she and I crossed a milestone here. Successive art projects were a more positive experience for her, and her confidence has grown some in her art-making. I really want her to grow in this way.
